The Onyx Boox Note Air 4C is designed for note-taking and full-color reading. Its biggest selling point is its 10.3-inch Carta 1200 color e-paper display, which runs Android 13 and offers full access to the Google Play Store.

BOOX Tablet Note Air 4C Review (2025)
Design
It features a metal body and glass screen. This gives it a cool, solid feel, but it also feels as solid as solid slate. Having carried the NA3C around for nearly 12 months and used it extensively, I can attest to the durability of its chassis design. It still functions flawlessly and remains spotless (though the folio likely contributed to this).
It’s incredibly solidly built, with no noticeable flaws, and the corners are beautifully rounded and the edges are slightly curved.
While it feels solid and sturdy, at 420g (excluding the folio), it’s a bit heavy. While it’s comfortable to hold and lift, it’s not ideal for long-term one-handed use.
Hardware
The Boox Note Air 4C boasts an octa-core processor, 6GB of RAM, and 128GB of storage, making it fast for an e-ink device. Opening large PDFs, flipping through notes, and switching between apps all run smoothly, clearly demonstrating the hardware’s optimization for productivity.
Compared to previous Boox models, loading times have been shortened, and lag when turning pages or refreshing the screen has been reduced.
However, the hardware reaches its limits when used excessively. Multitasking, such as running multiple apps or browsing resource-intensive documents, slows down tasks, and the e-ink refresh rate adds to the discomfort of fast interaction. While it’s not a device for power multitaskers, it can handle intensive tasks with ease.
Battery
The NA4C features a 3700mAh battery. As mentioned earlier, e-ink tablets with a dedicated GPU and Super Refresh technology drain their batteries much faster than tablets with lower power consumption.
Of course, you can improve battery life by disabling the front light and Wi-Fi/Bluetooth when not needed.
Comparatively, the battery performance is better than the NA3. However, the battery life is significantly shorter than e-ink tablets without a front light (BSR), which can last for over a week. The table below shows how much the battery drains after performing certain tasks for an hour.
Conclusion
The Boox Note Air4 C is one of the most versatile e-ink tablets on the market today. It boasts a rich color palette thanks to its diverse note-taking and annotation tools.
It also boasts a long-lasting battery, a satisfying paper-like display, and a stylus that delivers a natural writing experience without noticeable lag.
