Best Samsung Phone for Under $700 USA 2025
1. Samsung Galaxy S24 128GB
The Galaxy S24 isn’t all that different from last year, but it still has some promising improvements. The display can now dynamically change its refresh rate from 1Hz to 120Hz, compared to the previous model’s 48Hz to 120Hz.
This, combined with a slightly larger battery and more efficient chip, should make battery life easier to manage making it the best samsung phone for under $700 in 2025.
The Galaxy S24 is the pocketable flagship that many believed died years ago. The S24 packs a 6.2-inch display into a frame that’s just 2mm taller than the Asus Zenfone 10, which settles for a 5.9-inch screen. That screen is backed up by flagship specs, but there are a few drawbacks.
The display is still 1080p, but it’s now more efficient. It can adjust the refresh rate from 1Hz to 120Hz, compared to 48Hz to 120Hz last year. That means it’s a power-hungry phone when you’re sitting in front of an always-on display or watching 30fps video.
The screen is also brighter this year, hitting 2,600 nits, while the S23 maxed out at 1,750 nits. The S24 and S24+ don’t have the anti-reflective glass found on the S24 Ultra, which is unfortunate, but at least they’re bright enough to use in even the strongest sunlight.
Like the S24+, the camera is good, but not the best in its class. After so many years of using the same optics, I’m hoping the S25 will turn things around. The S24’s performance is good thanks to the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3, but the international model uses the Exynos 2400, which we didn’t test. Sadly, the S24 doesn’t get any RAM or storage upgrades.
It only comes with 8GB of RAM, with the 128GB model still using UFS 3.1, while the 256GB model gets an upgrade to UFS 4.0. If you want more than 256GB, you’ll need the S24+.
Battery life is a pleasant surprise. The battery has been bumped up from 3,900mAh to 4,000mAh, which, when combined with the more efficient display and processor, offers a significant boost.
Unfortunately, charging is still limited to 25W. That’s not tolerable for such a small battery, but it falls far behind what other OEMs are offering.
2. Samsung Galaxy A35
The Samsung Galaxy A35 5G offers impressive features and a great Samsung display for less than $400. It’s packed with Samsung’s OneUI software, offering a ton of useful tools, customizations, and shortcuts, especially when compared to more basic Android software from Google and Motorola.
Compared to other phones in this price range, the Galaxy A35 5G offers more camera options, with a 50MP primary camera and an 8MP ultra-wide, as well as a 5MP macro camera lens. It also offers solid battery life, with a 5,000mAh battery, which is the same size as what you’ll find on Samsung’s larger flagship Galaxy S phones.
Samsung’s Exynos processor isn’t slow, but this phone won’t be mistaken for a Galaxy S24. Still, you’ll have no trouble playing your favorite games or browsing the web on this Galaxy device. If you need a serious business phone, you’ll need to pay more, but for less than $400, the Galaxy A35 5G is the best phone to buy.
3. Samsung Galaxy A72

It looks a lot like the flagship Galaxy S24, with a glass front, glass back and aluminium sides, an upgrade from the plastic sidewalls of the Galaxy A54 5G, giving it a more premium feel in the hand than most of its plastic rivals.
It’s also covered in Corning’s advanced Gorilla Glass Victus+ and is IP67 dust and water resistant, completing the premium build experience.
Netflix lovers and social media addicts will love the 6.6-inch 120Hz AMOLED display, which offers vivid colors and deep blacks, while the 5000mAh battery should get you through the day without a hitch, even with the relatively slow ‘fast charging’ of 25W.
The main camera is quite capable, with a 50MP sensor that reviewers described as “pretty good” and without the usual red flags (purple fringing, pixel-level oil painting detail) that we see in mid-range cameras.
The secondary cameras, a 12MP ultra-wide and 5MP macro lens, aren’t quite as useful, but that’s a sacrifice we often see at this price point.
The only real weakness of the Samsung Galaxy A55 5G, ironically, is its performance. Despite its premium build and features, Samsung’s 4nm Exynos 1480 chipset is far from the most powerful chipset you’ll find.
It lagged behind the Pixel 7a’s Tensor G2 and the Pixel 8a’s Tensor G3 in our CPU and GPU tests, suggesting that mobile gamers might be better off looking elsewhere.
6. Samsung Galaxy A23 5G
The Galaxy A23 5G has a massive 6.6-inch 120Hz display and supports 5G connectivity. It has four rear cameras and is powered by the Snapdragon 695 5G chip. It has a 5,000mAh battery with 25W charging and a great mid-ranger.
The Samsung Galaxy A23 5G is a great budget smartphone that you can get for around $300. It has budget features and a lower-end chipset that might be a bit shaky, but it’s still good enough for browsing, texting friends and family, and even light gaming.
The Galaxy A23 is powered by the Snapdragon 695 chipset, up to 8GB of memory, and up to 128GB of expandable storage. Yes, you read that right. The Galaxy A23 5G has an expandable microSD card slot, so if you run out of space, you can pop in a new card and save more cat photos.
The device sports a 6.6-inch LCD display with a 120Hz refresh rate and a quad-camera setup consisting of a 50MP primary, 5MP ultra-wide, 2MP macro, and a 2MP depth sensor.
We can say that the cameras will perform decently during the day, but they won’t be as impressive in low-light conditions as higher-end devices. That said, the phone packs a powerful 5,000mAh battery that should last you a full day on a single charge, and the device also supports 25W wired charging speeds.
7. Samsung Galaxy A35
The Galaxy A35, the best non-S series phone you can buy in the US, has all the features and UI you need for a regular person, while avoiding the high price tag that you don’t. It’s almost identical to last year’s Galaxy A54, but it’s $50 cheaper and looks almost exactly like its flagship cousin.
Samsung’s decision to not release the Galaxy A55 in the US has left mid-range phone buyers with an alternative: the A35. That’s not a huge blow, since a $400 mid-range phone boasts hardware that can withstand four years of Android updates and five years of security patches with little trouble.
To be clear, it won’t satisfy those who have been used to flagship phones for a long time. But it wasn’t meant to be. It offers plenty of screen real estate, decent performance, a surprisingly good screen, and a fairly capable camera.
And while it does tend to get hot and even slow down occasionally due to overheating, it actually does so slightly less than the A54. Thanks Samsung R&D.
Samsung’s image processing isn’t perfect, and the A35 doesn’t have any AI-like editing features. But the camera hardware works well out of the box. I didn’t have any major issues taking high-quality photos in good light, but when it started to get dark (or even blurry), I might have to take a couple more shots to get the results I wanted.
It’s not the end of the world, but many of us are used to the perfect point-and-shoot capabilities of phones like the Pixel 8.
So while it’s not particularly exciting, the A35 is definitely one of the best mid-range phones of the year. It is a significant improvement over its predecessors, the A33 and A34, and competes directly with last year’s A54, but at a lower price.
Unless you demand the best performance and AI mastery from your phone, it is a perfectly fine choice.
8. Samsung Galaxy A54 5G

If you have a bigger budget, consider the Galaxy A54 5G. The A series of devices have been some of our favorites and easiest to recommend for years due to their affordable price and great overall value. It’s powerful enough for gamers, has a decent camera setup, and delivers flagship features in a compact form factor.
The Galaxy A54 5G is available in the US for $450. The device is powered by Samsung’s own Exynos 1380 chipset and the base model comes with 6GB of memory and 128GB of storage. Like many of Samsung’s budget devices, the A54 offers expandable storage via a microSD card slot.
The phone has a triple-camera setup and a 32MP front-facing camera, making it a good choice for those who like to take a lot of selfies. If you’re looking for a phone that can last all day on a single charge, you’ll be happy to know that the A54 can last a full day on a single charge thanks to its massive 5,000mAh battery and 25W charging speeds.
The only real downside is probably the lack of wireless charging, but some sacrifices had to be made to achieve the low price. At least it’s IP67 rated, so it won’t be damaged by dust and a little water if you take it to the beach or get it wet in the rain.
9. Samsung Galaxy A25 5G
After skipping a generation, Samsung’s top-tier entry-level A20 series is finally back in the US. It offers Samsung’s signature great software and has the hardware you need to live a smooth life. It also boasts premium features like an OLED screen and four years of Android updates.
Generally speaking, spending $300 on a phone means you’re making a pretty big sacrifice. But Samsung has done a great job with the Galaxy A25 by cutting corners to keep the price down while still delivering a capable device that will satisfy less demanding consumers who don’t want to spend money on an S series phone.
The FHD+, 120Hz, 1,000-nit OLED display is one of the more satisfying features, and it’s rare to find a phone this good in its price range. The camera is also excellent for its money, with good detail levels and excellent image processing capabilities, but it lacks the AI tools boasted by its more expensive cousins.
That said, you won’t mistake it for an S series phone like one of the higher-tier A series Galaxies. Not only has it retained the somewhat invasive notch from its predecessors a few years ago, but it also has the disappointingly off-center bezels and screen layout.
Considering how the vast majority of smartphones look at their screens, it’s disappointing that Samsung didn’t do a better job of aligning the panel and the body. But if you’re not too picky, you’ll probably get used to it.
The rest of the specs and experience aren’t all that impressive. The Exynos 1280 SoC won’t impress anyone coming from a Snapdragon-based Samsung, and the 6GB of RAM will significantly limit multitasking and resource-intensive apps. But for a pure smartphone experience, it’s hard to beat the A25’s value for money.
