The TickTalk 5 kids’ smartwatch is one of our favorite kids’ smartwatches with built-in GPS. We invited my daughter and her mom to test the TickTalk.

TickTalk 5 Watch Review 2025
Send Text Messages
The TickTalk 5 lets you send text messages to anyone who has downloaded the TickTalk app. Since parents have to approve all contacts, there’s no need to worry about others texting your child without your permission or approval. (It’s really great!)
Group chats are also available through the app. My older kids, who use their phones, love being able to group chat with their little sister on their smartwatches!
Making Phone Calls
My child can use the TickTalk app to make voice and video calls. When a call comes in, they can talk directly to the smartwatch or press the small button to answer the call via Bluetooth headphones.
No Internet
Not having internet access was a huge plus for us! It’s great for my child to be able to connect with family and friends without the risks of the internet.
No Stranger Dangers
All communication (messaging, group chats, video, FaceTime) is done through the free TickTalk app available for iPhone and Android. This means parents can view, block, and review all interactions.
Since parents have to approve all contacts, there’s no need to worry about strangers contacting your child. Parents have full control.
SOS and Emergency Call
Another safety feature of the TickTalk 5 is the SOS button. Parents can designate one contact as the SOS contact. Children simply press the red button on the side of the phone for five seconds to send an SOS.
The smartwatch will immediately send an alert and location information to the SOS contact. Parents can also enable or disable emergency 911 calls.
Privacy
TickTalk Tech LLC provides full transparency regarding the data disclosed to TickTalk Tech LLC during the initial setup process and our compliance with the Federal Trade Commission’s (FTC) Children’s Online Privacy Protection Act.
TickTalk Tech LLC prohibits the sale of data and advertising, and we do not sell or share your child’s data with third parties.
Sound and Video Quality
The sound quality is excellent for a children’s smartwatch! It’s actually quite loud, but you can lower the volume. The free built-in speaker lets you enjoy a variety of children’s music from iHeart Radio Family Streaming Music.
A wide variety of music is available, including Disney songs, lullabies, Christmas music, children’s classics, nursery rhymes, Netflix themes, jazz classics, piano pieces, and children’s movie soundtracks.
You can also pause, play, and skip music. Your child can stream music to other speakers via Bluetooth for even more sound options. On-demand podcasts for kids are also available.
The 5-megapixel camera isn’t impressive, but the full-color images are certainly satisfying. It has all the features you’d expect from a kids’ smartwatch, and the image quality is clear.
Children can use the app to take photos and videos and even engage in video chats. Video chats are limited to 3 minutes to conserve battery life. The TickTalk 5 smartphone offers 5.46GB of storage, allowing you to back up photos and videos for future access.
Monthly Subscription Fee
Currently, mobile data plans for the TickTalk 5 smartwatch start at $9.99 per month, with higher plans costing $15.99 per month. Both plans offer unlimited in-app text messaging.
