Gabb Phone 4 Pro Review (2025)
Design
The Gabb Phone 4 Pro has a fairly compact and thin form factor for a 5G smartphone, measuring 6.30 inches wide by 3.02 inches high and 0.33 inches deep (160.1 x 76.8 x 8.4 mm). It’s also quite light at 0.19 kg (0.44 pounds).
The Gabb Phone 4 Pro boasts a beautiful, stylish and modern design. The back cover is a luxurious dark blue with a glossy finish, while the front screen bezel is a solid black color. In addition, this smartphone boasts a high-quality and durable construction.
AMOLED display
Let’s move on to the various components of the smartphone. The Gabb Phone 4 Pro features a 6.5-inch Super AMOLED display with a resolution of 1080p (1080 x 2340 pixels) and a density of 396 ppi, a 19.5:9 aspect ratio, a 90Hz refresh rate, and supports up to 800 nits of brightness (when the high brightness mode is activated), providing a large screen that is surprisingly clear for young people. It features a 6.5-inch Super AMOLED display.
Camera
Let’s take a look at the dual camera configuration of the Gabb Phone 4 Pro. On the back, it features an advanced 50MP triple camera system as the main camera.
It features a 50MP camera lens (center), a 5MP ultra-wide camera lens (top), a 2MP macro camera lens (bottom) and an LED flash.
On the front, there is an upgraded 13MP selfie camera integrated in the top center of the 6.5-inch display, allowing kids to take HD selfies and record videos. Both the 50MP and 13MP cameras can take high-quality photos and record 1080p videos at 30fps.
Performance
In terms of performance, the phone is equipped with a super-fast Cortex Octa-Core processor, which consists of two 2.2GHz Cortex-A76 cores (x2) and six 2.0GHz Cortex-A55 cores (x6) in the CPU, delivering a processing speed of up to 2.2GHz, and a Mali-G57 MC2 GPU.
Looking at other hardware specifications of this phone, the Gabb Phone 4 Pro comes with 128GB of storage (expandable via microSD card) and 4GB of RAM to provide processing power.
Finally, the operating system of this youth smartphone is powered by Gabb OS, which is based on Samsung’s One UI 6 OS (based on Android 14). The base phone is manufactured by Samsung.
Battery Life
This teen smartphone uses a removable 5000mAh lithium polymer battery for powerful performance, which should last a full day, and on average, it should last more than a day.
When charging the phone battery, the 5000mAh lithium polymer battery supports USB-C fast charging using a 25W Samsung charger.
Connectivity
The Gabb Phone 4 Pro uses Bluetooth connectivity to pair with mobile apps, and its 5G connectivity allows kids to enjoy unlimited text messaging and unlimited voice calls.
It also has GPS connectivity for real-time GPS tracking, so parents can check their kids’ location at any time via an app on the phone.
Most importantly, this phone does not have an internet browser or social media apps, keeping teens safe from potential risks associated with using such applications.
Other Specs
Like other modern 5G smartphones, the Gabb Phone 4 Pro has a simple and user-friendly interface. On the right side of the phone is the volume switch for volume control, and just below that is the power button. This button supports unlocking with the side fingerprint sensor.
You can unlock it with a PIN, swipe pattern, fingerprint recognition or facial recognition, and it also supports facial recognition.
On the left side of the phone is the dual SIM card tray. The primary SIM card should be installed in the primary slot (front), while the secondary slot can be used to expand internal storage by inserting a second SIM card or MicroSD card.
However, this phone does not support eSIM. Finally, the phone has a microphone array on the top for voice calls, a 3.5mm headphone jack, a USB-C charging port, and a built-in speaker for loud audio.
Gabb Phone 4 Pro Features
1. Many parental apps
Setting up the Gabb Phone 4 Pro service could be easier. First, you’ll need to download the MyGabb app (free for Android and iOS) and create a parent Gabb account. When you receive your child’s phone, you’ll need to set it up via the MyGabb app on their phone.
Make sure your Gabb phone is turned on and next to you. Log in to your Gabb account in the app, go to the menu in the top right corner and click ‘Add a device’. A QR code will appear on your phone, scan it and it will guide you through the setup process.
To manage your child’s messages, you will need to download the Gabb Messenger app and log in again. Gabb Messenger lets you create a list of approved contacts for your child and manage message deletion permissions.
You can choose to have messages deleted immediately, after 30 days, or never. Once you are comfortable with Messenger settings, the initial setup is complete.
Gabb is a hassle because it requires two apps on your phone instead of one. It would be more convenient if Gabb Messenger was inside the MyGabb app.
2. Messaging Tight Control
Parents can closely monitor their children’s messages and video calls. The Gabb Messenger app includes a safe video call feature that monitors nudity and automatically disables calls and sends a notification to parents if detected.
It also automatically blocks group video calls and calls from unknown callers. If desired, the video call feature can be completely disabled.
3. Location Tracking
Parents can monitor their child’s location from the MyGabb app home screen. Tapping the Find Location button will bring up a map showing the exact location of their child (or at least their phone).
The MyGabb app also allows parents to manage and set safe zones. To set a safe zone, tap the Safe Zone button in the app and you will be taken to a map. You can set a safe zone by long-pressing on the desired location on the map.
You can set the radius of the zone using the slider below the map. However, you cannot create irregularly shaped zones that cover a specific area, such as a neighborhood or school grounds, but only circular zones.
Location tracking updates every 15 minutes by default, but you can reduce it to 10 minutes or increase it to 30 or 60 minutes.
Unfortunately, this setting means that your child can leave the safe zone without you knowing. However, during our testing, we did not experience any lag.
4. Apps Monitor via Uninstallation
The Gabb Phone 4 Pro only allows access to approved apps. There are two levels of approval. First, Gabb only provides a small number of approved apps. Second, parents choose which apps they want from this small number of Gabb-approved apps.
5. School and Learning Apps
The phone’s home screen features four apps: Phone, Gabb Messenger, Gabb Music, and Camera. Swiping up on the home screen reveals all the apps.
These include My Files, Contacts, Play Store, and Settings, followed by the Notes app, MyGabb, GabbID (which shows the ID name and whether you’re logged in), Photos, Clock, Gabb Weather, Calendar, Gallery, VLC Video Player, Calculator, and Gabb Maps.
There are a number of apps that focus on security. These include Samsung Knox Manage, which automatically locks the phone if it detects that the operating system has been compromised; Samsung Knox E-Fota, which allows Gabb to install security patches; Knox Remote Support, which allows Gabb support agents to access the phone during support calls; and Knox Browser, a locked-down web browser.
In addition, both the Starter and Standard plans offer nine apps that parents can add to their phones. These include 24 Game, Olive Tree’s Bible App, Chadbad.org’s Daily Torah Study, Chess and Solitaire, Gabb Maps, Gospel Library, Quran, and OverDrive Education’s Sora.
Parents on the Advanced plan can browse the full list of Gabb-approved apps, but there are few that kids will want. There are apps for ESPN and the four major sports leagues (MLB, NBA, NFL, NHL), but news is limited to the Reuters app.
Games are few and far between, mostly word games or brain teasers. There are a surprising number of banking apps, including Robinhood, investing apps, and American Express.
I don’t know why kids would want to use these apps. It’s ridiculous for a parent to allow their child to use their Amex card but not the internet.
The Gabb software and the rest of the app list are so limited that it’s almost impossible for kids to use their phones for anything other than calling, texting, and taking photos.
But that’s the point of Gabb. With Gabb, you can monitor total screen time and track exactly what your kids are doing on which apps.
Conclusion
The Gabb Phone 4 Pro is a great choice for limiting your teen’s phone usage and keeping them safe from online trouble.
If you want to keep your kids off the internet but still allow them to listen to music, take photos, chat with friends, and use safe apps, this is a great phone for you.
