VIVIDSTORM’s 100 S ALR Motorized Tension Floor Rising Obsidian Projector Screen can be used with a standard projection projector and has shown very good results overall.
Since then, many of you have asked for a review of VIVIDSTORM’s 120″ S PRO P Motorized Tension Floor Rising UST ALR Perforated Projector Screen and I have been using exactly that for a few months now.
Ideally, an Ultra Short Throw (UST) projector should be paired with a different type of screen than a regular projection projector, and this is where the S PRO P Motorized Tension Floor Rising UST ALR Perforated Projector Screen comes in.
The main difference between these types of screens is that ALR (Ambient Light Blocking) screens, which are designed to be used with UST projectors, are designed with rows of small, angled ridges that, on the one hand, reflect the image coming from the projector (placed a few inches away from the screen), and on the other, absorb ambient light coming from above (ceiling lighting – but not from the sides or below).
This means that UST ALR screens can produce very good image quality even in brightly lit rooms (although they won’t do it when watching movies, but they will if the light source is above the screen).
VIVIDSTORM’s S PRO P line of UST ALR perforated screens are available in 72/84/92/100/110/120” sizes, are available in both black and white, are targeted at UST projectors rated at 1800 ANSI lumens and above, and once again their strongest selling point is the floor-raising feature that allows the end user to fully extend/raise and retract/lower the screen in under 30 seconds (there are 5 control methods at the time of writing this review – RF remote, IR remote, physical switch, wireless projector trigger, and smartphone app).

ALR (Ambient Light Rejection)
Ambient light is the enemy of any projector. The S Pro series ALR screens can effectively block 97% of ambient light to eliminate the washout effect caused by ambient light.
Projector screen Sync
The S PRO Series comes with a free wireless projector trigger. Just insert the wireless USB trigger into the USB port of the projector. When you turn on the projector, the screen will be triggered and automatically raised. When you turn off the projector, the screen will retract back into the case at the same time.
Wireless trigger compatibility is not guaranteed for all projectors. Also, the trigger is a gift and is not covered by the screen manufacturer warranty.

Multiple Installation Positions
