For the Light Phone III, the company has also added some hardware to support future features that won’t be available when it starts shipping in January, such as a potential digital wallet with an NFC chip or video calling/accessibility features with a front-facing camera.
At its core, the Light Phone III is a simple phone with a camera and some optional tools. All of our tools are built around intentional use.
Tools currently available include alarms, timers, calculators, calendars, directories, directions, notes/voice memos, and simple music or podcast players. We will continue to release more utility-focused tools through ongoing software updates, which are always optional and never pre-installed.
There are currently no music streaming tools for platforms like Spotify or ways to call/message with other platforms like Signal or WhatsApp. Rideshare tools are also not provided. These features may be available in a future software update.
While considering the extra features of the Light Phone III, it’s important to remember all the features the Light Phone 3 will never have. Light Phone III has no social media, internet browsing, email, news or ads. There is no infinite feed.
Light Phone III currently only supports English keyboard/language on the device. You can still view incoming messages in multiple languages and characters.
